The future is digital, and the students of Banilad Elementary School in Negros Occidental are officially ready to log in.
KHC is happy to announce that PHP 1.1M investment has been made dedicated to transforming the school’s learning environment. This initiative is about far more than just "gadgets"—it’s about equipping students and teachers with the specific tools they need to thrive in a modern world. Beyond the hardware, KHC provided the furniture and appliances necessary to turn the computer room into a fully functional, conducive hub for innovation and focused study.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we’ve selected technology that meets the developmental needs of each age group. Older learners in Grades 4 to 6 will be using 20 ASUS Vivo Book laptops. These devices serve as a gateway to the wider world, allowing students to develop essential research skills, master digital typing, and learn to navigate collaborative tools like email and online platforms.
Our younger students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 are engaging with 30 Samsung A9 tablets. These are designed to make learning feel like an adventure, using interactive e-books and apps that focus on math, literacy, and digital storytelling. To ensure these tools are used to their full potential, we’ve also installed a Google TV in the computer room for classroom demonstrations and provided 28 headsets so students can maximize learning applications that utilize audio and video. These headsets are a vital component of the Khan Academy training process, enabling students to listen to instructional materials without distraction.

We recognize that technology is only as powerful as the hands that guide it. To support the faculty, KHC donated four laptops specifically for teachers who had not yet received devices through DepEd. These tools ensure that the teaching staff can efficiently manage grading, record-keeping, and modern classroom instruction, keeping them as connected as their students.
This investment is already seeing immediate action on the ground. Beyond general classroom use, these devices will play a pivotal role in our long-term educational strategy: they are being integrated into the curriculum for Grade 3 and 4 students participating in our three-year literacy pilot, a collaboration between KHC, BES and DepEd in Negros Occidental. By blending high-quality hardware with targeted instruction, we are ensuring that these students have every resource available to master essential reading and comprehension skills.
